"I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me-like food or water." - Ray Charles

Hi my name is Annaliese and i'm currently studying Singing at university. I love all things Vampire Diaries, Doctor Who, Buffy, Charmed, Miranda, and Friends :)

I hope you enjoy reading through my blog!

The music of Ingrid Michaelson is a recent discovery of mine. I’d heard her songs on some adverts before, but had never known who was the singer. I then heard the song ‘Are We There Yet’ on an episode of Vampire Diaries, and thus started a new obsession.

One of the things I love the most about her songs are the lyrics. I’m not sure what it is about them that make them so intriguing, but they seem to get to the heart of the song.

“you look so pretty in the dark of night
but i’m getting wise in the early light
i can see you falling like a homemade kite”

or

“we hate the rain when it fills up our shoes
but how we love when it washes our cars
we love to love when it fills up the room
but when it leaves oh we’re cursing the stars”

Anyone could listen to these lyrics and feel some connection to them. Which is more than you can say for some songs you hear these days, well… if you can even call ‘dubstep’ music.

This particular song ‘Ribbons’ is my current favorite, so ENJOY :D
